We are Outstanding!
Eastbourne Crematorium has been awarded an outstanding rating following a comprehensive inspection by the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities, placing it among the highest‑performing crematoria in the country.
The inspection assessed performance across eight key areas including administration, ceremony facilities, cremation operations, grounds and memorialisation, environmental standards and staff service. The team at the crematorium are achieving an exceptionally high level, with the inspector concluding the service was outstanding across all categories.
Councillor Candy Vaughan, Cabinet Member for Communities and Accessibility, said: "This outstanding rating is a testament to the professionalism, compassion and dedication of the team at Eastbourne Crematorium.
"Families rely on us at some of the most difficult moments in their lives, and this report confirms that the service they receive is of the very highest standard.
"We are incredibly proud of the staff who work so hard to maintain these exceptional levels of care."
The report highlights particularly strong performance in ceremony facilities, premises and grounds, memorialisation, and staff service, all of which received 100% scores. The inspector also confirmed that the crematorium continues to meet the highest professional standards.
Councillor Vaughan added: "It was a rigorous inspection and a remarkable achievement by our officers.
"We will continue to build on this success and address the small number of areas highlighted for future improvement."
